Drugstore Favourites | August 2014

Hello everyone! I just wanted to say thank you again for over one hundred followers - it's crazy!
So today I thought I would share with you my Drugstore Favourites for the month of August. I will try and do these each month, depending on if I use new products or if I buy new products, because I don't want to bore you with the same products all the time! Anyway - let's have a look at some of my favourite products!

My August Drugstore Favourites:

Max Factor Face Finity All Day Flawless 3 in 1 Foundation ~ £11.99 ~ GOSH, that's a mouthful! If you saw My Top Four Drugstore Foundations (click here if you want to read a mini review on this product) blog post you would know that I love this product, it's my go-to foundation for when I have a bad skin day. Out of all the foundations that I have tried it is probably the best at covering up blemishes. I've really been loving this product for August because it's not heavy at all on the skin, and it's personally an appropriate foundation for all-year-round.
*Did you know that this product is an exact dupe for the Covergirl Outlast Stay Fabulous 3 in 1 Foundation?*
♥ Maybelline The Falsies Volume Express Mascara "Black Drama" - £7.99 ~ If someone was to show me just the brush of this mascara I would instantly be put off of this product, because of how clumpy and odd the wand looks. But like everyone says "don't judge a book by it's cover." Despite how the wand looks this mascara is not clumpy at all on the lashes. It adds a lot of volume whilst thickening and darkening the lashes, which is what I want I tend to look for in a mascara!
♥ Soap & Glory Lid Stuff "What's Nude" ~ £10 ~ This is my favourite eye shadow quad, it has the most natural looking, blendable, creamy eyeshadows that a quad could have. I've actually been using and loving this palette since June, shhhh! I really recommend these eyeshadows for anyone who loves simple and natural eye shadow looks. And this palette is great for back to school, as schools can be really strict on make-up, but this product is so natural looking that no one will realise that you're wearing eye shadow!
♥ Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer ~ £4.19 ~ I'm pretty sure everyone and their mother loves this concealer (literally, my mum loves this product). Not only is this concealer extremely affordable but so far it is better than any high-end concealer that I have tried for covering up my spots. I recommend this for concealing darkness under your eyes, for spots, for blemishes and for concealing anything else. It does a really great job at hiding imperfections!
♥ Revlon Colorstay Moisture Stain "025 Cannes Crush" ~ £7.99 ~ I did a full review on this product (click here to go and see it) and I've been in love with this product ever since I bought it. I love coral lip products, and this one is now my favourite lip gloss/lip stain. You can build up the pigmentation of this product or you can make it extremely natural (which is what I prefer to do.)
Do you know of any coral lip products that are more on the orange side, rather than the pink side, that you can recommend to me? I would love to know!

I hope you lovely people enjoyed this mini favourites review - I hope you all have been having a great week!

Meet Toffee!

Toffee is a Syrian hamster with cute, big eyes and a very shiny fur coat, who was brought home on the 7th of August 2014. During the first couple of days of Toffee's arrival, he has been quite shy. Since those days had past Toffee has opened up into a playful and friendly little fella! So far I have noticed that Toffee's favourite foods/treats are dried sweetcorn, fresh grapes, and banana. His favourite toy is one hundred percent his wheel - he is non-stop on it.

Meet Toffee:
Toffee's first day in his new home:

*Nom nom*

In his sand bath:

Looking out into my bedroom:

Playing in his toy box:

Digging:

"Oh, hi again!"

Even though a majority of the un-asked questions were said above, I still thought it would be awesome to do the Furry Friend Tag!

The questions:

1. What is your pet's name?
Toffee, because his fur will eventually be an identical colour to a Toffee (as he grows up.)

2. What kind of pet is it and what breed?
He is a Syrian Hamster!

3. How long have you had your pet?
I've had him since the 7th of August 2014.

4. How did you get your pet?
I've always had a soft spot for Syrian hamsters. I had another Syrian hamster back when I was twelve, and I just really wanted another because they're the easiest pet to look after (personally easier than fish - as I have had fish too) - so we (my mum, my brother and I) went down to Pets at Home, and bought one!

5. How old is your pet?
When I got him he was 10 weeks old, so he is probably 11 weeks old now.

6. What are some quirky things about your pet's personality?
I haven't noticed anything too quirky at the moment as he is still rather young, but he goes on his wheel for ages and once he's exhausted from doing that, he goes and sleeps in his sand bath for two minutes and then he goes back on his wheel for another thirty minutes.

7. What does your relationship with your pet mean to you?
Well, he's obviously now apart of my family so it would be really horrible without him. He always does weird little things that make me smile, which I think is really nice. So he does mean a lot to me.

8. What are some of your favourite past times with your pet?
Again, I haven't had my hamster long enough to have that many memories but a really cute one was when I put him in the bottom part of my top and covered the bottom half of his body with it (so that he wasn't cold) and he fell asleep.

9. What nicknames do you call your pet?
He doesn't really have any nicknames but my sister keeps calling him "mouse."
~
Hopefully you guys enjoyed today's post! It is a little different to other posts, it was kind of short and no very talkative (like my other posts) - but anyway "bye-bye" from Toffee and myself!

Review: Revlon Colorstay Moisture Stain

Hello again! So recently my local drugstore has launched some new products - and this time it's something else that is new from Revlon! It's the Revlon "Colorstay Moisture Stains." I've been trying these products for a couple of weeks now and I thought I would get back to you on my thoughts on these products!

Where can I buy this product?
If you live in the UK and Ireland then they would stock these products in your local Boots store (Boots are currently holding a 2 for £10 on all Revlon cosmetics, when they retail for £7.99 each), however they haven't been released into Superdrug yet (as far as I'm aware.) If you live in America you will most likely be able to purchase this product in Target and in Walgreens. Unfortunately I am unsure of where else they would stock these products in other countries, if you are not living in the UK and Ireland or the USA leave a comment below telling others where they can buy these products! I'm fairly sure that they may stock them on Amazon or Ebay.

How many shades are there?
There is not a very big selection of shades. I am pretty sure that Boots stock more shades in store than they do online, but don't take my word for that (as they stock eight shades online, but I'm certain I saw more shades in my local store!) There are a range of neutral, nude, bright and dark lip shades.

Is there a scent?
There are no overpowering scents, but there is still some-sort of scent. I would most likely describe the scent to this product similarly to PVA glue, which doesn't bother me at all, but I can smell it the most when I actually apply the product to my lips.

What are your thoughts on this product?
I actually really like this product, I think the colour is fairly true to what you see on the packaging. It doesn't last for the longest time, but it doesn't last for the shortest time. I'm not the biggest fan of lip glosses (which is what I would say the formula of this product is most like, as it has a glossy finish) as they usually tend to feel quite heavy and sticky (depending on the product) on my lips, but this product is not heavy nor sticky, which is fantastic, and the colour pay-off is also pretty phenomenal, which did kind of surprise me! However when the colour does eventually fade off of your lips, it does leave you with a slight "stain" on your lips - just as the name of the product states. This product is also very easily buildable and it can also be made to look very natural, just by using your finger and blending out the product to your liking.

What are some cons on this product?
Of course the scent isn't the most appealing but it's honestly not that much of a bother as the scent doesn't stay on your lips.
If you're like me and are not blessed with smooth lips then you may also find that when you apply a lip product whether it's a lip gloss or lipstick, that the product seeps around the dry patches and seeps through the cracks on your lips, so of course this product would also do the same, just like a majority of lip products. Sometimes this product can come off a bit streaky, but I do think that comes down to the texture of your lips and the way you apply the product. But not to worry - I have you all covered with probably the best tips on how to get your lips smooth, which I have a full blog post on, so click here to go and see it!

Swatches:

What the product looks like on:

↑ "045 New York Scene"

↑ "025 Cannes Crush"

Sorry about how creepy the two pictures above look! But as you can see my lips look smooth from the prepping that I mentioned previously in this post and the Revlon lip product does not cling to any dry patches. It's amazing. As you can also see, there are no streaky lines. I applied one coat on both the top and bottom lip - for both shades of this product.
Just a quick side note: Of course the shades on my lips shown above may look different on maybe your lips as we all have a different lip pigment.
Hopefully you lovely readers enjoy reading this product review, if you would like me to review anything else, be sure to leave a comment below!

The Actual Way To Get Smooth Lips

Hello dear readers! I have a helpful blog post for you today that has helped me on many occasions - and it will most likely help you too! I have tried this routine on quite a few people and they have all been really impressed with the results, especially when they have their lip products on. You can still do this routine even if you don't even wear lip products, like lipsticks, lip stains etc.

The checklist:
☑ Do you have dry and rough lips?
☑ Do you get frustrated when you apply a lip product and all you can see are the dry, flaky bits on your lips piercing through your lipstick/lip gloss etc?
☑ Do you want smooth lips?

If you answered yes to a majority of the questions shown above, then keep reading to find out how to prevent dry and rough lips!

First off, you may need to purchase some exfoliating gloves (they are sold in so many places, like your local supermarket, drugstore - probably even Poundland, as they do cost a pound.)

A majority of people tend to use toothbrushes to take off all the dry skin on their lips, but I honestly think that toothbrushes don't target the dry patches as well as an exfoliating glove does. Let me tell you why. With exfoliating gloves I find that you have more control with the glove, where as with a toothbrush it's fairly harder to target a certain area as you have a brush on the end of a stick, whereas with the glove you are practically using you finger, which allows you to apply more pressure to your lips to take off as much dry skin as possible!

I really do recommend these gloves as they come in useful for everything. You can have one of the gloves for your face and lips and the other glove for exfoliating your body - it really feels refreshing!

Once you have your exfoliating glove:

Firstly, dampen your glove and slowly start massaging your lips with a light amount of pressure, building it up, as you get used to the pressure, make sure to target all areas of your lips, even the sides. Do this for thirty seconds to one minute - depending on how dry your lips are.

After that your lips should look quite raw/red and plump (which is what we are looking for) and they should also start to tingle a bit, this is because the blood in your lips is reaching the surface and whilst it is doing that it is slowly plumping them (just like how a plumping lip gloss would plump your lips.) You will also see the pigment of your lips gradually get a bit darker, whilst your exfoliating your lips with the glove - which is awesome!

Secondly, you will need to sooth your lips - I also highly recommend the "Carmex" lip balms as they are amazing. This part is so vital that you apply a lip balm otherwise you may end up with chapped and sore lips the next day due to all the aggravation you have caused with the exfoliating glove. A lip balm really helps to prevent this. Apply an even, thin layer of your chosen lip product on your lips (preferably a lip balm that helps with dry and chapped lips.)

Please just know that I would never recommend something if I didn't think a product/item had the full potential to be recommended.

The finished result:

Please excuse how uneven the colour of my top lip looks, the lighting seems to have taken over! As you can see in the picture above, you end up with smooth, dry-patch-free, lips! The only product that I have on my lips is the Carmex lip balm shown above. This exfoliating method also adds quite a bit of colour to your lips. Let me know if this little, simple routine works for you in the comments below! I hope this helped you out.

Lots of Love!

Make-up Haul!

Hello! So, as I mentioned in my "Fashion & Accessory Haul!" blog post, I said that I would be doing a make-up haul (hence the title) - so I hope you lovely readers enjoy today's post! This make-up haul is sort of a collective haul as a few of the things in this post were bought a week ago. If you're interested in an item shown below - click on it and it will direct you to the site where I got it from! A product shown below with no re-directed link may have been a one-off offer.

This is what I bought:

Boots ~ Bumble and Bumble "The Ultimate Blow Dry" ~ (Includes 30ml of Thickening Hairspray & 15ml of Straight Blow Dry) This travel set was on clearance for £4! For a 50ml bottle of the Thickening Hairspray it costs £8.50 and for a 60ml bottle for the Straight Blow Dry costs £12. So I thought it was a pretty good deal because this set may have cost £11 or so pounds off of clearance.
Boots ~ Revlon Colorstay Moisture Stain ~ I got the shades "024 Cannes Crush" which is the peachy, coral shade. And I also got the shade "045 New York Scene" which is a deep red colour. I will be doing a review on these products shortly. These cost £7.99 each, but they are on offer for 2 for £10 on all Revlon products.
Boots ~ Maybelline Baby Lips "Pink Shock" ~ Maybelline brought out some new Babylips (well...Actually they're not new, because they've been in America for over a year, but anyway! This product is so pigmented and it's actually a pretty wearable and nice colour, and it actually suits me!
Boots ~ Pretty Quik Instant Nail Polish Remover ~ I've tried this product on several occasions and it is "quik." Plus, it's £2.79!
Boots ~ Barry M Nail Paint in "Raspberry" ~ This is my favourite ever nail polish. This is my favourite colour to wear on my nails and this nail polish formula is fantastic! It drys very quickly, which is great for me because I hate having wet nails that take four hours to dry. I am pretty sure this nail polish retails for only £2.99! P.S. This is the colour I'm wearing on my nails in the picture above!
~ Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine Nail Paint in "Blueberry" ~ Again, I love the formula of this nail polish, but the colour just isn't for me. I'm not a fan of colours like blues, pinks, etc. Unless they're dark - I just don't think they look very good on me. But I bought this anyway to see if I would change my mind, but for now, I will stick to dark colours. However, this colour is extremely beautiful. This nail polish is £3.99
Boots ~ ECOTOOLS Domed Bronzer "1229" ~ I bought this to apply The Body Shop Honey bronzer. I really like ECOTOOLS brushes, they're great quality and a great investment as they last for years and have never shed a single hair in the four years I have owned their brushes. This brush is £9.99.

MAC ~ Pigment in "Tan" ~ I haven't had a proper chance to try this on my eyelids yet but when I swatched it, it was the most gorgeous colour. I can't wait to try it! This was £17.50 in stores, but I think they gave me fifty p off! The staff were all very nice in MAC.
MAC ~ Prolongwear Painpot in "Soft Ochre" ~ this is another well-known product from MAC. I bought this to use as a primer for when I wear eyeshadows. I also want to use this maybe on an everyday basis to cancel out the darkness of my eyelids. This product was £15.50.
MAC ~ Sample of Skin Base Visage ~ The ladies behind the MAC counter surprised me with a free sample of one of their products. Which was so nice of them!

The Body Shop ~ Honey Bronzer "02" ~ I heard a lot of bloggers and YouTubers talking about how amazing they thought this product was, so I thought I would give it a go! It's a very natural looking bronzer, which is great because I don't like too dark bronzers, especially because I have semi-fair skin! This product is £13.

Hopefully you all liked this post! I will most definately be making more posts like this as they are really fun to make and to look at!

Fashion & Accessory Haul!

Hello! So I did some online shopping and I also went on a little shopping trip (by myself) recently and I thought I would share with you what I bought fashion and accessory wise. If you do like any item of clothing shown below, click on the picture and it will take you to the site and location of where I bought these clothes/accessory from! There will also be a "Make-up Haul!" blog post coming very soon - so you can hopefully look forward to that! P.S. I did buy the clothes from Newlook in store. But I bought the clothes from Boohoo online - as it's an online store.

Boohoo:

Boohoo Aztec Playsuit: This playsuit is absolutely stunning. The bottom half of the playsuit is lovely and flowy which honestly looks like a skirt, which is also why I really like this item. It cinches at the waist, which is always good, however around the bust area, there is a bit of gaping on the sides due to the way it was made - but you can always wear a black bandeau underneath - which is what I have been doing, otherwise it would have been rather revealing! This playsuit sells out of sizes really quickly. So buy it whilst you can! This picture shown above of this item doesn't do the fashion item any justice.
Boohoo Daisy Swing vest: This is a lovely everyday, casual top. It's lovely and lightweight and I really like the print on this top.
Boohoo Crochet Trim Cami (White): I haven't had a chance to wear it yet, but the fabric is a little bit sheer, so it's best to wear either a plain white bra or a white/colourful bandeau. I really think this top would look amazing with some high-waisted jeans or some leggings (to make the look more casual.) This top is also available in a coral and white colour, which also looks really nice.

Newlook:

Newlook Lace Back Cami: I haven't tried on this item properly (apart from in the changing room) but I did really like it when it was on me. It's a simple yet pretty fashion item, which can either be dressed up with some statement jewelry or made casual with some leggings and converse.
Newlook Daisy Crochet Trim Cami (Pale Blue): I wore this top for a whole day, and the fabric is so lightweight and cooling, which is fantastic for the hotter weather! I really like this top, I love the daisy trim around the neckline, back and straps of this top.
Newlook Stone Cut Out Zip Purse: Now if you are a reader from my previous blogging site, you would know that I could not seem to let go of my five-year-old, floral, River Island purse. And ever since I came across this new purse, I have been obsessed. You can probably tell that I have an obsession with crochet/cut out products from a majority of my blog posts - because I do. I think these designs are beautiful and unique. Which is why I love this purse a lot. It has rose-gold hardware and underneath the peachy cut out fabric is some rose-gold fabric (which you may be able to see from the picture) which is so beautiful!

I hope you all enjoyed this fashion post! Don't forget to leave a comment below.
Much Love,

TAG: Get To Know Me!

Hello wonderful readers! I'm going to try and keep this introduction to this blog post short and sweet. But I just wanted to start off by saying that I made up this tag and the following questions, so that you could all get to know me a bit better. I know that there are quite a few 'Get To Know Me' tags floating around the internet, but I really wanted to do my own questions. I hope you enjoy this post!

The questions:

1. What's one thing you really want to do before you die?
♥ I would really love to sky-dive.

2. If you had to choose only three countries/places in the world to visit, which countries/places would you choose?
Paris, America and Bora Bora/anywhere exotic/pretty

3. Do you have a middle-name?
♥ I actually do not, it's pretty weird because everyone that I know has one.

4. Do you wear contacts/glasses?
♥ I wear prescription glasses because I cannot see well from a far distance.

5. Tell us something that not many people know about you?
♥ Something I can think of right now, that only a few close friends and family members know, is that I'm afraid of planes, to the point where I actually throw up. I know, it's gross. It's not just a one off thing, it's started ever since I was seven years old (when it was my first time ever going on a plane) and has been ongoing since. Apart from this year and last year because I haven't gone on holiday. And even though I want to travel in the future I know fully well that I would make a fool of myself along the way. (And yes I know it's crazy that I want to sky-dive, yet I'm afraid of planes, but it just seems so fun!)

6. What's your favourite cereal?
♥ Lucky charms - but I haven't had them in months! I must buy some more...

7. What's your favourite genre of films?
♥ Horror, comedy and romantic comedy.

8. What's your favourite book?
♥ Any book that has been written by Lindsey Kelk. I'm not even exaggerating, but I think I've spoken about her in ninety percent of my blog posts.

9. What are three foods that you despise?
♥ People are going to gasp when they hear this, but I hate Macaroni & Cheese, Shepard's Pie and Lasagna.

10. Do you have any pets?
♥ Throughout my life I have had a dog, which was an English Springer Spaniel named Lara. I've had seven fish (two of which were mine, both were named Goldie - yes they were goldfishes, so original), a Syrian hamster named Caramel, my brother also had a Syrian hamster named Fudge, we've also kind of had cats as well (quite a lot of cats, probably 30 over the last 5 years) - but they were strays that would live in our home in Cyprus and we would look after them, but my Gran looks after them now, as we don't live in Cyprus - we only look after them when we visit her which is usually for a month. I also bought another Syrian hamster today (07.08.2014) - so expect to see more posts on him soon!

11. What's your favourite magazine?
♥ Glamour (for freebies and style) and Now (for all the celebrity gossip.)

12. Do you ever want to get married in the future?
♥ Yes I'd love to

13. Do you ever want to have children in the future?
♥ Of course! I would love a big family of three or four children.

14. What's your biggest pet peeve?
♥ When people eat with their mouth open. It kills me.

15. What's one thing you can't stand in a person?
♥ Probably someone who uses you.

16. What eye colour do you have?
♥ Light brown.

17. What's your favourite pizza topping?
♥ Hawaiian all the way.

18. What's your favourite take-away food?
♥ Chinese - oh my gosh.

19. If you were given one-million pounds, what would you do with it?
♥ Of course I would give some to charities and people in need. But I would also save the rest and put it towards my future - like on a house, on some family pets, also towards supporting my partner and also for my children and their futures

20. What's your worst habit?
♥ My nail biting habit, it's disgusting I know...But I haven't bitten my nails in over a month!

21. Who knows you the best?
♥ Either my mum, dad or my sister. I'm pretty close with them.

22. What's your favourite drink?
♥ This is going to sound lame, but it's water. But I also do like apple juice and I also like a drink from Costa named a 'Sticky Toffee Creamy Cooler.' It's amazing.

23. Do you collect anything?
♥ Clothes and make-up!

24. Are you easy to get-to-know?
♥ I personally think that I am very easy to get to know - but only if I'm comfortable around you because some people can be really awkward - and I just can't click with them, have you ever been there?

25. What do you think about more than anything else?
♥ I think a lot about my future and how I'm going to try and aim to get the best future that I want.

26. What position do you sleep in?
♥ I sleep on my side, I can't fall asleep if I lay on my back or my stomach!

27. Who do you turn to for whenever you need help about something?
♥ A majority of people would answer this question and say their mum/dad/brother/sister etc. But for me, I'd have to say Yahoo Answers.

28. What's one thing you get embarrassed about the most?
♥ I know this is going to sound really wrong of me to say this because it's about my future and no one else's, but whenever someone asks me what I want to do in the future, and I reply with being a make-up artist for films/celebrities etc. I feel like they're judging my response because I feel like they think it's such a pointless/stupid job. I don't know...I just always get that impression from people. I personally think it's such an interesting and talented job because you do need skills in art to pursue a job in the make-up industry.

29. If there was one thing you could change about the world we live in today, what would it be?
♥ Of course, the main thing I would choose to change would definitely be poverty. But I'd also like to put a stop to racism, general discrimination, discrimination about sexual orientation and also discrimination against the female society.

30. Who are you going to tag?
♥ I want to tag, yet again, anyone who is reading this and wants to answer these questions!
