Fenty X Beauty Match Stix Review

I'm super excited for today's blog post, if I'm honest this is the 1st time I've seen a makeup brand launch something and I think "oh I have to get this" and actually get it ASAP.

If you're from the UK you can buy Fenty Beauty from Harvey Nichols - and in case you're wondering the Stix's cost £21 each!

I purchased 2 Match Stix's - 1. "Mocha" (more for contouring/bronzing) 2. "Starstruck" (a shimmery highligher.) I wasn't too fussed on getting the matte highlighting shade because I'm not fully into contouring and highlighting, so I just stuck with what I know and like!

THE PRODUCTS:

I was really confident about trying these products out as I had researched them for a few days to make sure they'd match me well and they're honestly perfect!

In the picture above I have captured how much product is in the tubes which is 7.10g/0.25OZ. I personally feel it's a fair amount of product because when actually using it you don't feel like you're using any at all because the consistency isn't extremely creamy. And the curvature of the stick still looks brand new after I've been using it for a couple of days!

I LOVE THE PACKAGING (it's magnetic) of these items! And honestly, I think that's what's selling them, and of course their huge shade selection. It's such a gimmicky yet handy design and storage, I honestly love it and I like how simple the colouring of the packaging is too, it doesn't look tacky.

STARSTRUCK HIGHLIGHER:

This highlighter is my go-to every day highlighter shade, it is fairly shimmery in comparison to another cream highlighter that I use by Collection that I love in shade 01 Pear Sheel (and it's fairly similar to this shade actually - the Fenty one being a tad more intense and shimmery, the Collection one gives a more 'lit from within' natural look haha.)
The highlighter gives a nice 'wet' look to the skin.

I really wanted to try out the shade Confetti, but to me it was more of a less wearable shade, as it was more blue-lilac toned? So I went for the safe option which I knew I would wear all the time and get my money's worth from! Maybe I'll give it a try in the near future.

The consistency is very interesting, it doesn't feel creamy when you're applying it onto your skin, it feels like a powder in a stick form - which is not at all a bad thing it was just unlike something I've experienced before.

The cool thing also about these products is that it doesn't feel like you're using any product as the tip of the product has stayed nice and round like I mentioned earlier - plus it's extremely pigmented so you barely need much application.

I find this highlighter so easy to blend, I apply it onto my cheekbone from the stick and blend it in further with my fingertip to warm the product up a little to make it more moveable.

MOCHA CONTOUR/BRONZER:

I chose the shade Mocha because I felt it would go best with my medium olive skin-tone and I did see people with my skin colouring using the shade below and it turning out fairly ashy on them, I believe it was the shade 'Amber' HOWEVER if you have fair skin I think this would be a perfect shade for you as it won't come out looking harsh at all on you.

I would say this shade is more cool toned but I think it's fairly neutral, which is why I really enjoy using it for bronzing as it reminds me of my all-time-favourite bronzing powder Bahama Mama by theBalm - it's pretty much the same colouring but in powder form!

I'm really happy with this shade. The consistency is the same as the highlighter, however I've seen people using the stick and contouring their whole face and the product drying super quickly by the time they get to their other cheekbone, so I do suggest to bronze/contour in sections.
I use my stick to bronze up my skin as I find my face to be a lot lighter than the rest of my body and this shade is perfect for making me and the colour of my body look even.

This product blends out really nicely, I use a dense foundation brush to blend it out (Real Techniques Expert Face Brush) and it works wonderfully and blends it out so naturally.

You don't even have to set the product in place with another bronzer!
I'd say the finish of this product is matte however if you have a natural glow to your skin the product still allows it to peep through which is lovely.

SOME PICTURES I TOOK WITH FLASH ON MY PHONE:

I hope you enjoyed my review, I really recommend these products or any of the shades as they're all the same consistency - I'll definitely be trying out more of the highlighting sticks!
I also really want to try out the Fenty primer, foundation and powder - even though I'm not the biggest fan of foundation I'll definitely give it a go, because my issues was always finding a perfect shade and Rihanna has come out with so many options that I'm more than sure I'll find myself a good match! I've heard so many great things about the whole range!

Current Favourites

In today's post I wanted to share with you some products that I've been using for a fair amount of time that have well and truly become my holy-grail products in my make-up bag.

the products:

Starting from left to right, I have my favourite skin care products which I've been using around March time.

On the left we have the L'Oreal Pure Clay Glow Mask, I love this product! When you have it on your skin it gives a really refreshing/cooling feeling to your skin which makes it feel like it's doing a great job at also cleaning your skin - my favourite part is washing it off because this mask contains mini exfoliating beads inside which is a great for brightening the skin as this is what this mask claims to do - WHICH it does! I notice that once I've washed the mask off with a face sponge that my skin looks more even and one hundred percent brighter and I'm an addict to anything that gives your skin a healthy glow, which is what leads me onto my next product!

The No7 Essential Moisture Day Cream, now I won't go too much into it as I did talk about it in my Skin Care Routine blog post earlier on this year, but since then I've fallen more in love with it and I was able to fully take in the difference it was making to my skin.
I have combination skin (my cheeks are normal and my t-zone can be quite oily especially my nose) and ever since using this product I've noticed I'm not as oily as I was, so I've found this product to honestly give me the "essential moisture" that my/any skin needs! This product isn't mattifying but it does leave you with a satin-glowy finish that is very natural looking.

I've rediscovered my Elizabeth Arden Sunset Bronze Prismatic Lip Gloss in "Sunset Kiss 03" this is a beautiful, non-sticky, moisturising lipgloss that has reflects of gold and pink in it which adds a lovely something something to your lips, I think glittery lipglosses are stunning to rock during the summer weather!

In the middle I have my Too Faced Sweet Peach Oil Lip Gloss in "Tickle-Me-Peach"  I am obsessed with this, not only is it super moisturising but the colour-pay-off is amazing, the colour is your generic orange lipgloss shade which is such a staple colour for the summer weather, it suits all skin tones and you can tone it down a bit just by dapping some of the product away with your finger.

Finally, a staple red, NYX Pure Red, I am really into blue-tone reds as I find they compliment my skin tone the most, and this is your perfect straight up pure red lipstick haha. NYX have become my favourite brand to buy lipsticks from because 1) extremely pigmented - 2) VERY long lasting through drinking and eating - 3) soooo affordable! I'm really obsessed, they have such a huge range and I'm mid collecting half of it!

NEXT I'm going to talk about 3 products in the picture above that I didn't feel the need to take pictures of because there's not much to really show of them.

Benefit Ready, Set, Brow - when I look for brow gels I like a product that makes my eyebrow hairs stiff and stuck down like glue, because I have quite all over the place brows and somedays they need to be tamed and this little bottle which I got from a magazine does the trick! I'm not lying when I say I bought 3 of these magazines just to get more products because I knew I'd love it
😳 😳 😳

Blistex Intensive Moisture Lip Balm, I think every girl/boy can agree that they've probably gone through 100 lip balms but have any of them done the trick? WELL, I've been using this product day and night and it's fab, I honestly haven't had dry lips that I feel the need to peel with my teeth since using it! And I remember I had a badly cracked lip so I used this and the next day it was honestly sewn back together again?!?! And that's how I became obsessed with this little guy

L.A. Girl Pro Concealer "Light Ivory" this is such a staple in my make-up bag, this is my fourth tube I believe, I'm so in love with it!!!! It's light weight, medium coverage, long lasting and again AFFORDABLE.

NYX Shadow in "LOL" - there seems to be a theme of orange in this blog post, but this is such a lovely pigmented eyeshadow to have in your collection, I love blending an orange toned shadow through the crease and this one does the trick perfectly, it blends like a dream and I do tend to find it hard to come across a drugstore orange shadow, and of course NYX do every colour you can think of, really do recommend this shade, it can make a nice transition colour for any look

NYX HD Finishing Powder "Translucent" - I've been using this for a couple of weeks now and I really adore how it smooths over your skin and blurs any imperfections, this powder does contain Silica which is GREAT for smoothing out your skin but NOT-SO great for if you do photoshoots, which cause flashback...I don't do photoshoots or use flash camera on myself so this wasn't an issue for me, so I do really like this product despite it's playdoughy smell and the fact some of it gets into my make-up bag because it's a fine powder.

I guess we're saving the best till last, but it's MAC "Soft and Gentle" highlighter - I've always kept going back to this product and I think it's because it gives you a natural glow, without looking IN YOUR FACE or like you've been sweating since putting your makeup on and that's why I love it, it's a beautiful champagne pink and will look great on pretty much every skin tone. You only need a little dap of your brush in this product because a little goes a loooongggg way

I hope you enjoyed reading through my staple products and look forward to another blog post which I'm trying to get the hang of to do more regularly!

Thanks for reading

My 2017 Skin Care Routine

Welcome back to another blog post! For a while I went without pampering my skin, and I just kept my routine VERY simple. But over the past few months, since around Christmas time, I've accumulated a few products which I have fallen in love with.
On this blog, I speak my mind about all the products I review, I only review products which I actually like, so I hope you guys respect my honesty in this post and enjoy it as much as I did writing it!

SO let's rewind back to night time...
🌙  🌟 🌙  🌟 🌙  🌟 🌙

When taking off my makeup, I always use my Micellar water, I'd religiously use the Simple one but I found it was a bit harder to get my hands on as my local Tesco doesn't stock it, so I reverted back to the Garnier one, which works just as well!

If I'm suffering with a bit of eczema on my nose that day I'll apply only a little of my HC45 cream and then I'll follow up with my moisturising products straight after.

When it comes to the moisturisers that I use on my skin at night, I chop and change it between 2 products. (the first picture and the second picture, I count the first picture as one of my products, even though there's 2 items)

I use these two products above at night as they are quite rich in moisture which I think would be too much to use as a day cream.

The "Elizavecca Witch Piggy Hell Pore Hyaluronic Acid 97%" (on the left) absorbs instantly into the skin, it feels like a serum as you massage it into the skin, but then it turns a little bit tacky as it dries. I use this product to act as a sponge for when I apply the bottle on the right which is "The Ordinary 100% Organic Cold-Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil." I find these two together work perfectly as it doesn't feel too oily which is great!

I find that the Hyaluronic Acid feels SUPER light-weight on my skin, practically non-existent (this product was honestly sold to me by the packaging, and surprisingly the product is just as awesome as it looks) which is why I go in with a second product (the rose hip oil) just to add extra hydration and skin-loving ingredients to my skin.

And when I wake up the next day my skin looks healthy, clear and radiant! I absolutely love these two products to apply as a duo at night time.

Some days during the week at night I like to switch it up and use my "Lancome Energie De Vie" moisturiser.

I believe you can use this product morning and night, but I personally like using it at night time, as I feel like it'll benefit my skin more? As your skin repairs itself between 2-4am, so I feel like my skin will make the most of this product in that time.

This product aims at targeting your skin to look less tired and dull and it's suited for all ages which is perfect! I 100% agree with what the product claims to do. I wake up the next day with my skin looking the most healthy and radiant that it's ever been. The texture of this product feels like a serum when applied to the skin, it absorbs so well into the skin, leaving your skin feeling soft and hydrated.

It's time to WAKE UP now! Good Morning
🌞  🌞  🌞  🌞

For a while I wasn't using a moisturiser in the morning as I felt my skin had too much moisture in it, causing my skin to become oily throughout the day. However, recently I was at the station having to kill 2 hours of my time as I'm ALWAYS early for everything, so I popped into Boots and started browsing the moisturisers, and I came across the "No7 Essential Moisture Day Cream."

I used the tester pot on my hand first and the texture of this product was thick and as I massaged it into my hand, the product simply glided and melted into my skin, leaving such a smooth base with no oily residue, so I went on a whim and just bought the little pot of joy!

AND to my delight I love it, my makeup applies really well with it as a base, it keeps me nicely hydrated throughout the day without making me oily!

As my makeup routine (base wise) is just concealer and bronzer, I was a bit skeptical about using a moisturiser as I didn't want the moisturiser to make my bronzer application patchy, as I don't wear foundation (so there was no initial base for the bronzer to hold onto) however I've had no issue with patchiness, and it looks better than ever, the products glide seamlessly over it!

DISCLAIMER: I get quite nervous when it comes to trying out new skin care products, as I have slightly sensitive skin, so if you're nervous like me about getting a reaction or breakouts, I was your dummy and have tried all these products on myself for over 2 weeks and I've not had one breakout or any redness/reaction.
